U.S. Army, TARDEC provided development funds for SAM via a Small Business Innovation Research Contract. SAM is recognized as a way of saving lives via inspection of vehicles – both under and inside vehicles from a safe distance . This same unit can become a hand held unit for inspection on tops of trucks or other inspections. Sam can be configured to work with most sensors and on most Small Unmanned Ground Vehicles (SUGVs). Used by police officers for night time stops. The UGV is used by the military for inspection of vehicles prior to being allowed on a military base. This speeds up the inspection process while providing a better inspection of the vehicle.
